꾸욱꾸욱스튜디오와 스튜디오이온이 공동제작한 장편 풀 3D 애니메이션 〈긴긴밤(Long Long Night)〉이 제51회 토론토국제영화제(Toronto International Film Festival, TIFF) Centrepiece 부문에 공식 초청됐습니다.
〈긴긴밤〉은 2013년 연상호 감독의 〈사이비〉 이후 13년 만에 TIFF에 초청된 한국 장편 애니메이션으로, 이번 영화제를 통해 월드 프리미어(World Premiere)로 전 세계 관객과 처음 만납니다.
〈긴긴밤〉의 글로벌 행보는 지난 2월 베를린에서 먼저 시작됐습니다.
해외 세일즈를 맡은 Finecut이 European Film Market(EFM)에서 작품을 국제 바이어와 배급사에 소개하며 본격적인 글로벌 B2B 세일즈를 시작했고, 이번 TIFF 공식 초청을 통해 산업 관계자들에게 프로젝트를 소개하는 단계를 넘어 세계의 관객과 평론가에게 완성된 작품을 선보이게 됐습니다.

〈긴긴밤〉은 제21회 문학동네어린이문학상 대상을 수상하고 누적 판매 약 80만 부를 기록한 루리 작가의 동명 베스트셀러를 원작으로 합니다.
지구상에 마지막으로 남은 코뿔소 노든과 버려진 알에서 태어난 어린 펭귄이 바다를 찾아가는 여정을 통해, 상실을 경험한 두 존재가 서로에게 의지하며 이어가는 우정과 사랑, 연대의 의미를 전합니다.
CF 감독이자 그림책 작가로 활동해온 염규복 감독이 첫 장편 애니메이션 연출을 맡았습니다.
염규복 감독과 꾸욱꾸욱스튜디오가 원작의 영화적 해석과 캐릭터의 감정 설계, 섬세한 연출을 중심적으로 이끌었으며, 공동제작사 스튜디오이온은 〈아머드 사우루스〉를 통해 축적한 언리얼 엔진 기반 제작 경험과 실시간 렌더링 기술을 바탕으로 작품의 풀 3D 프로덕션과 공간·캐릭터의 영상 구현에 참여했습니다.
TIFF 프로그래머 지오반나 풀비(Giovanna Fulvi)는 작품에 대해 “우정과 회복력, 우리를 지탱하는 관계의 힘을 따뜻하게 전한다”고 평가했습니다.
작품의 배급은 TCO, 해외 세일즈는 Finecut이 맡습니다.

The full-3D animated feature Long Long Night, co-produced by Googgoog Studio and Studio EON, has been officially selected for the Centrepiece programme at the 51st Toronto International Film Festival (TIFF).
Thirteen years after Yeon Sang-ho’s The Fake (2013), Long Long Night becomes the first Korean animated feature invited to TIFF in 13 years. The film will make its World Premiere in Toronto, meeting international audiences for the first time.
The film’s global journey began earlier this year in Berlin.
International sales company Finecut introduced Long Long Night to global buyers and distributors at the European Film Market (EFM), launching its international B2B sales campaign. With its official selection for TIFF, the film now moves from the global industry market to the festival stage, where the completed work will be presented to audiences and critics from around the world.

Long Long Night is based on Ru Ri’s bestselling novel of the same name, winner of the 21st Munhakdongne Children’s Literature Award and a title that has sold approximately 800,000 copies.
The story follows Norden, the last rhinoceros of his kind, and a young penguin born from an abandoned egg as they journey toward the sea. Through two lives marked by loss, the film explores friendship, love, resilience, and the bonds that allow us to keep moving forward.
Acclaimed commercial director and picture-book author Kyu-bock Youm makes his feature animation directorial debut with the film.
Director Kyu-bock Youm and Googgoog Studio led the film’s cinematic interpretation of the original story, character-driven emotional development, and creative direction. As a co-production partner, Studio EON contributed to the film’s full-3D production and visual realization, drawing on its Unreal Engine-based production experience and real-time rendering expertise developed through projects including Armorsaurs.
TIFF programmer Giovanna Fulvi praised the film as a work that warmly celebrates “friendship, resilience, and the connections that sustain us.”
